January 2010 Snow…not really a whole lot

Georgian’s are so funny, they get pretty freaked out over a little bit of snow. One inch of snow and schools get canceled, people don’t know how to drive in it so there are major accidents, and a big hoop la about nothing really special. It was fun to play in though and taking pictures of, plus its a good reason to stay inside and indulge in some hot chocolate (which I have none of becasue the boys and I drank the last of it a couple days ago, shucks!).

A couple weeks before Christmas we added a new member to the family. He is silly, likes to chew things up (the boys new motivation to keep their toys picked up), energetic, LOVES the water, and a good boy. I am pretty sure he is a lab mix, he was at the Paulding County animal shelter and we were told he was a stray. When we brought him home he had no idea how to go up and down stairs, so he had to learn that pretty quick and he had kennel cough which went away on its own after about two weeks. The day we got him and were driving away from the shelter we started discussing names. After shooting down a bunch of names (none of which I can remember anymore) Dave mentioned how he looked like Bolt, and Caleb insisted that should be this dogs name. So here he is for your viewing pleasure, the super dog, super hero: BOLT…..

Christmas 2009

4th of July

For 4th of July this year we went to the Tennessee Aquarium then back into Atlanta for a concert and fireworks show. I only have pictures from the aquarium because we were having issues with our camera and only had our cell phones to take pictures with.

Caleb’s 4th Birthday

N.C. and Maryland trip

Day one: Woke up at 5:15 AM got the kids fed and ready left by 6:30AM. Stopped for lunch at 12PM and arrived in N.C. at 2PM. The boys played for a little while and took a nap, ate dinner, went for a walk, then bed.

Day two: Woke up at 5:15 AM got boys dressed and fed, left at 6:30. Stopped for lunch at 11:30 arrived at my Aunts house around 1:30PM. The boys ran around out side, met the donkey (J.D) whom they LOVED but I am bummed we forgot to take pictures. We ate dinner outside then bed.

Day three: Went to see Grandma, visited for about two hours. She has Alzheimer’s so she didn’t remember me or know who the boys were but the was happy to see us anyway. It was nice to see her. On the way home we stopped to pick up a dozen steamed crabs!!! Got home Devoured crabs. Even Caleb had a few bites. Stayed up for a little while and had dessert, strawberry short cake!!! Bed.

Day four: Rainy day but we went to the market, lots of Amish vendors! Got some whoppy pies, peanut butter pretzels, and some stuff for a cook out ( hamburgers, macaroni salad, beets, and cole slaw.) Went back to the house, boys took a nap, then ate dinner… Leland ate a WHOLE hamburger without the bun!!! A little T.V., dessert, then bed.

Day five: My Aunt had to work that day so I took the boys to the mall, got two shirts at Old Navy for $3.50 each! Stopped and had a snack of a soft pretzel, lemonade, and dippin dots. Went back to the house and let boys nap. Dinner then bed.

Day six: Woke up at 5:15AM, boys dressed and fed. Left at 6:30AM. Almost made it to Dave’s Mom’s without stopping but Caleb had to go potty. There were no exits anywhere so he peed on the side of the road, gotta love having boys! Arived in Durham N.C. around 12:30 PM, ate lunch, boys took a nap, ate dinner, played, I think that was the night we watched a movie, bed.

Day seven: Took the boys to the pool, Caleb was scared of the water again but was getting better after a while. Went back to the house, boys took a nap while a co worker of Rich’s came over to show me the insulin pump her daughter wears, she was a super nice lady and her daughter was great! Ate dinner on the deck. Put boys to bed.

Day eight: Woke up at 5:15AM boys fed and dressed, on the road around 6:30 AM. Had to stop in S.C because Caleb had to pee. Stopped at 11:30 to eat lunch. Home at 2PM

Gulf Breeze, Fl 2009

We took a short vacation down to Florida with our neighbors about a week ago. It was the first time I had EVER been to Florida and I thought it was beautiful! Most of the time we were there it rained but it was still fun.

A Visit

It has taken me WAY too long to get things posted lately!

About three weeks ago Dave’s Mom and Rich came for a short visit on their way back to N.C. after visiting some family in Louisiana ( I am so jealous they got to eat Emeril’s restaurant in New Orleans. They wern’t able to stay long since the weather was getting bad and also wanted to go see their other grandbaby. It was nice to see them though and the boys were happy to give hugs and play for a few minutes.

La Leche League Confrence

Last weekend we went to the La Leche League confrence in Helen,Ga at the Unicoi State park. We were there for three days and the boys had a great time. I learned a lot, some subjects were attachment parenting (Dr. Sears spoke for that one as well as vaccines), homeopathy and herbs, having a large family, there were tons of subjects! Caleb and I went hiking on a short trail one day and both boys loved running around outside!

Helping Hands

We had some help here for the past couple days. Dave’s Sister and my cute little Niece were here helping us stay sane while we are adjusting to our new routines. It was a lot of fun but I think the boys wore out their Aunt Jennie who is already sleep deprived because little Abby is still waking up a few times every night. Hopefully she will get some rest today when she gets home.

The boys seemed to really like Abby. Caleb wanted to help with her a lot and for the most part was very gentle with her. Leland liked her too and loved touching her toes, but he did hurt her 1 or 2 times with trowing things and hit her in the head… poor girl, your Mommy and Daddy will never let you come over again 😦  All in all it was a lot of fun to have them here.
