The Garden

I have already been able to taste the lettuce in the garden this year…. I never thought lettuce was so easy to grow! It was sooooo yummy! The sweet peas have really begun to take off even after nearly being wiped out but a hail storm last month. The onions are doing great as well as almost everything we planted this year. It seems I am not very good at growing broccoli, maybe I’ll try one more time in the fall and if it doesn’t work I am done with broccoli. I have even done better with the carrots this year, yay! I am just hoping the zucchini fair better this year and don’t get attacked by what ever got to them last year.

2009 Garden

Today was a busy day for finishing up most of the garden. I was pretty bummed that the other day during a thunderstorm we got a TON of hail that pummeled my snow peas so I had to re-plant more seeds and hope that they grow before it gets too warm for them.  The first ones were already about 4 inches tall and only two survived the hail. None of the other plants that I had already planted were too badly damaged by the hail. As of today we have planted ; snow peas, blueberry bushes, grape vines, cilantro, thyme, rosemary, sage, parsley, dill, mint, basil, sunflowers, echinacea, yellow squash, onions, broccoli, celery, lettuce, carrots, radishes, zucchini, three different kinds of tomatoes, four different kinds of peppers, strawberries,  and green beans.
